Posters tackle prejudice

July 4, 2010 by Michael

A campaign to raise awareness of issues surrounding facial disfigurement has been launched at the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff Bay, with Falklands War veteran Simon Weston helping to launch the campaign.

Mr Weston, who was very seriously burned and disfigured during a bomb attack in the Falklands War, is supporting the campaign to try to bring about fairness and equality when dealing with people with disfigurements. Mr Weston claims that society’s preoccupation with perfection with regards to body image is part of the problem.

The campaign is called Face Equality and the charity, Changing Faces, hopes to tackle the existing prejudices in today’s society against those people who have suffered from facial disfigurements. It is claimed that there are close to 1 million people living in the UK who have serious facial disfigurements. Many people are not aware of this fact and the campaign is aimed at [Read more]

Cardiff motorists targeted by leaflet campaign

June 16, 2010 by Lyndon

A local cyclist in Canton in Cardiff is taking matters into his own hands to make the area a safer place for other cyclists. Having made complaints to the council that fell on deaf ears about motorists parking on cycle paths in Canton, local cyclist, Elgan John, has decided to produce leaflets to try to improve the safety of cyclists in the area.

His leafleting campaign carries a message to try to deter motorists from parking on designated cycle paths in the area. The leaflets will be placed on illegally parked cars, underneath their windscreen wipers ensuring a highly targeted message to the offenders.

Elgan claims that the cycle paths’ misuse has become a persistent problem, despite the number of [Read more]

Cardiff posters target BBC

May 19, 2010 by Gareth

The Chairman and CEO of the Association of Independent Music (AIM), Alison Wenham, says the AIM has put its support behind the launch of a new poster campaign to put pressure on the BBC not to close the Asian Network and the 6 Music channel.

The bosses of the BBC took the decision to cut the 6 Music and Asian networks at the end of February and since then there has been widespread criticism of the cuts. They are due to close at the end of May but there has been much opposition to the move which has risen hopes that the networks could be saved.

The new poster campaign is due to go up on billboards in several major cities across the UK, including Cardiff. The campaign has been created by 38 Degrees, an organisation that [Read more]

A first for a Cardiff based UK print company

February 3, 2010 by Gareth

Around the middle of last year a printing company in Cardiff was the first in the UK to install a HP Scitex UV flatbed FB7500. The printers, Gardners, produce wide format digital work. If you are looking for stationery printing or business card printing in Cardiff, or have more sophisticated requirements the city can easily satisfy your needs.

The decision to purchase HP’s top of the range kit was based on the ability of the machine to produce very high quality work. The company says that the investment has opened up new opportunities for direct-to-substrate printing.

Managing director Richard Gardner said:

“It does produce very good quality that we couldn’t previously run on our flatbeds, which has [Read more]

Help for Heroes nude calendar 2010

January 1, 2010 by Lyndon

As 2010 gets underway it’s perhaps time to start looking at a calendar to mark the year. Rather than the usual calendars of pop stars, soap actors and C-list celebrities, you could instead choose a calendar that has been produced for charity, while at the same time has a touch of naughtiness to it.

The Help for Heroes Calendar features 15 gorgeous women, and one lucky man, stripped completely nude and in various poses in the Forrest of Dean, not far from Cardiff. The women, and one man, took part in nude photo shoots in the freezing cold Forest of Dean in November last year for a calendar that will raise money for charity. The calendar was [Read more]

Cardiff City FC successful flyer campaign

December 16, 2009 by Gareth

Cardiff City FC looked at ways to increase its sales of season tickets. The club decided on a special flyer campaign. The well thought out campaign was targeted at Cardiff City fans to persuade them to purchase a season ticket for the new season.

The campaign differed form the usual blanket distribution of the same flyer. The football club came up with the idea of ‘personalised’ flyers. They identified different target groups within their fan base. For example, regular visitors and previous season ticket holders. Six different versions of the flyer were produced and more than 40,000 were sent out.

A local printing company in Cardiff, Horizon Digital Media, won the contract to produce the flyers. The company used two Xerox DocuColor printing presses (a 2045 and a 5252), to print them. Horizon’s sales and marketing director Peter Edwards [Read more]

St David’s in Cardiff to launch with new print campaign

November 22, 2009 by Michael

There may be a recession on at the moment, but that hasn’t stopped Cardiff launching the biggest retail destination of the year, just in time for Christmas. The St David’s Shopping Centre cost £675 million and will rejuvenate the city centre, and capital of Wales.

As with every new business, the launch campaign of St David’s is crucial to its success, and a design agency from Newcastle has been appointed to create the POS printing in Cardiff to advertise the new retail centre.

The Newcastle based advertising company, Different, worked on a series of adverts to promote the St David’s. The advertising material included direct marketing, press advertising and poster printing in Cardiff’s [Read more]
