‘Labour’ poster issue explodes in Edinburgh
May 1, 2010 by Lyndon
A poster printed by the Scottish National Party has angered Scottish Labour, causing a fierce war of words in Edinburgh in the run up to the election.
Seemingly mimicking the Labour manifesto front cover, which depicts a family watching a sun rise over fields with the slogan “A Future Fair for All”, the SNP created a similar scene on their campaign poster but in place of the sun rise, there was a nuclear explosion and the slogan “A Future Feared by All”. The aim of the poster was to highlight their view that Labour has wasted billions on nuclear weapons.
The main crux of the row seems to be that the SNP also used the Labour logo as depicted on Labour’s manifesto front cover. The claim is that use of the Labour logo by another party is against the rules and Labour immediately involved their lawyers. However, the Caledonian Mercury reports that an SNP spokesperson had commented that it spoke volumes that Labour had reacted so fiercely to their logo being placed next to comments regarding the billions of pounds that they had wasted on weapons of mass destruction. The SNP were defiant and defended their actions as they felt it important to highlight this issue in the run up to the election.
If your company is looking to create some publicity with a poster campaign of your own, then there are companies who offer poster printing in Edinburgh, or in your local area, who will be able to help you create a stir such as this.

It should be pointed oot that the Labour logo was placed alongside the Tory and LibDem logos.
All three parties are happy to consider wasting Billions of pounds the country disnae have on Trident (or in the LibDem’s case Wee Pal of Trident) while auld folk go cauld an’ the weans dinnae get fed.
As far as ah’m aware, only yin party, Labour, hae taken umbrage an’ threatened tae clype oan the National Party.
Ah can understaun a party takin’ the huff if they’re bein’ picked oan, but this time the SNP are right tae get the tar brush oot an’ swipe them aw.
