History buffs will find Peterborough perfectly charming, as its cathedral – constructed in the 12th century, features the largest example of a painted wooden ceiling. The oldest wheel in the UK was also found in the UK, and it can be seen at the Flag Fen Bronze Age Centre.

While the rest of the country is in recession, Peterborough is in the middle of a boom. This is believed to be because of the regeneration of the city which is set to run until 2012.
There is a strong Italian population in Peterborough, which is largely due to migrant workers who arrived in the city in the 1950s. This was caused by the London Brick Company, who advertised in Italy for workers.
